Dental care for children with special needs in Ocala

You know your child best. Before the first visit we ask what helps and what to avoid, and we plan around it.

Before the visit

Five picture cards with colored drop shapes lie in a row on a wooden table beside a small teddy bear.

We call you before the first appointment to ask about routines, sensory triggers, communication and medical history. We can send photos of the office so your child knows what to expect.

On the day

Two armchairs in a warmly lit, quiet room
  • The first or last appointment of the day, when the office is quiet.
  • A room away from the front desk, with dimmed lights if that helps.
  • Extra time, so nothing is rushed.
  • Short steps with breaks, and a stop signal your child can use.

When more help is needed

Some treatment is hard to do while a child is awake. We explain every option, including laughing gas, and refer to a hospital dental team for sedation when that is the safest choice.

Questions about care for children with special needs

Can we visit the office before the appointment?

Yes. Many families stop by for ten minutes to sit in the chair and meet the team.

What if my child cannot sit in the chair?

We can start with an exam on your lap or in a beanbag seat, at your child's pace.
